Career Feature Wins (410): 2
Just 18 years of age, Austin McCarl enters the 2011 season knowing he can go fast at Knoxville. A top ten run in the points race earned his 410 "Most Improved" Driver honors. The youngster finished just three spots shy of the championship event at the Knoxville Nationals, and in 2011 will aim a few spots higher. Austin picked up the first 410 win of his career on June 18, 2010 at the Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
He was a "true" 410 rookie in 2009. After racing a handful of 360 races in 2008, the Southeast Polk High School student/athlete tackled the 410 class.
The 2007 English Creek Speedway Micro-sprint champion raced a couple of dozen different races on more than a dozen different tracks in six states in 2008, but focused mostly on Knoxville in 2009. A season highlight included qualifying for his preliminary night feature in the Knoxville Nationals.
The son of six-time Knoxville track champion, Terry McCarl, finished a career-high third at the 34 Raceway in Burlington with the Sprint Invaders in 2008.
