Wednesday, September 17, 2014
Jimmy Owens, Steve Francis, Don O'Neal, Scott Bloomquist, and Darrell Lanigan are on the short list to take the Knoxville Nationals title but with 100 laps any of the other top Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series points leaders to race on the famed dirt track including Brian Birkhofer, Earl Pearson, Jr., Eddie Carrier, Jr., Jason Hughes, Billy Moyer, Dennis Erb, Jr. and John Blankenship all have a chance.

Says Knoxville Raceway General Manager, Brian Stickel, "We look forward to the end of September and having the premier Late Model Series, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series return to the Knoxville Raceway. This event is always one of the highlights of the season and what a spectacular way to end our final event of the year."

Jimmy Owens, current Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championship point leader, is one of the fan favorites at Knoxville. Owens was recently a guest on MAVTV's Dave Despain Show. "Hard not to like Jimmy Owens," says Despain, "soft spoken, humble, appreciative, loves his kid... and a DEMON late model racer."

While many of the Lucas Oil Late Model drivers have experienced the glory of the Knoxville Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals podium, only one - Steve Francis - has taken the championship twice. Jimmy Owens, Don O'Neal, Scott Bloomquist, and Darrell Lanigan are all past champions and are poised to match the Francis record.
