Rico Abreu Donates Value of ½ Beef Won on Van Wall Marion County Fair Race Night to 4-H Foundation

Knoxville, Iowa (September 3, 2020-) – When Rico Abreu made a thrilling last-lap move from third to first on Knoxville Raceway’s Van Wall Marion County Fair race night, he not only pocketed the $4,000 winner’s prize, but also a ½ beef donated by the Marion County Fair Association.

Abreu quickly decided to donate the value of the beef to a worthy non-profit group in Marion County rather than receiving the beef itself. He chose to donate the $1,000 value to the Marion County 4-H Foundation.

“I’m thankful for the 4-H foundation. I’ve been a 4-H member myself for many years and participated in livestock showing,” Abreu said. “I couldn’t think of a better group to give back to.”

Knoxville Raceway promoter John McCoy presented the check today to Lauren Petersen of the Marion County 4-H Foundation.

The 2021 Van Wall Marion County Fair race night will be held on Saturday, July 17.
