Knoxville Raceway Season to Begin When Fans are Permitted to Attend

Wednesday, May 6, 2020
Knoxville Raceway continues to monitor the spread of Coronavirus and the re-opening plan in Iowa. Knoxville officials continue to work with state and local governments on guidelines and required social distancing restrictions for when our gates officially open for the 2020 race season. The health of our fans, employees, partners, drivers, teams and community members continues to be our main priority.

At this time, the state of Iowa has allowed motorsports events to occur without spectators. However, after great deliberation and discussion, Knoxville Raceway does not plan to host any of its weekly championship series events without fans. Our fans are an integral part of everything we do and racing without fans is not what made Knoxville Raceway what it is today.

When we do receive the green light from the state of Iowa, we will be ready to work with spectators and participants on any safety and health guidelines that will be implemented.

The May 16 race has been rescheduled for Friday, September 25. The May 23 race has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 26. Any additional weekly championship series races that are affected by the closure will not be rescheduled.

The June 12-13 Brownells Big Guns Bash with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will be held with or without spectators, depending on the state’s restrictions at that time. Knoxville Raceway will work in partnership with the World of Outlaws and follow their spectator-free guidelines and procedures of a track rental if spectators are not permitted.
