Verlin Eaker, Fred Horn, Ken Walton, Ed Sanger, Tom Hearst, Curt Hansen, Roger Dolan and Gary Webb Take Center Stage in Knoxville on Saturday

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (September 26, 2013) - If you are a Midwest dirt late model fan, you will want to be at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. as past champions Verlin Eaker, Fred Horn, Ken Walton, Ed Sanger, Tom Hearst, Curt Hansen, Roger Dolan and Gary Webb celebrate the early years of the Yankee Dirt Track Classic races at the Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids. The “Late Model 101” forum will be hosted by National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame induction director and race historian Bob Markos, his son Bobby Markos, Jr., and his friend and fellow historian Lee Ackerman.

According to museum curator Tom Schmeh, “Last year, we overcrowded the second floor theater with a similar program on the early World 100’s at Eldora Speedway, so this year we will stage the Late Model 101 program in the same area as the Noon auction. We will be prepared to host over 150 fans. I sincerely want to thank all eight dirt late model champions as it will be an exciting hour-long program for all fans, young and old. And I want to congratulate Bob, Bobby and Lee for putting together such a great entertaining and educational program for our museum visitors, centering on the Yankee Dirt Track Classics but touching on several other great events over the years.”

Those individuals interested in learning more about the activities this week at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum should visit the museum’s web site at www.sprintcarhof.com.
