Originally from Tampa, Florida, RJ moved to Knoxville in 2008, running in the 360 class until 2013 when he made his 410 debut in the TK Concrete 55 car. RJ returned to 410 sprint car competition in 2025 after taking 6 years off. He won his lone Knoxville feature in the 360 class in 2012.
