Calvin has become a staple in the 410 class at the Knoxville Raceway. The transplant of Phoenix, Arizona was a regular competitor each year in July and August before becoming a weekly racer here in 2001 when he won 410 co-Rookie of the Year honors.

Calvin has 40+ career 410 wins to his credit. In 1992, he burst on the scene as both the non-wing Arizona Sprint Car Association (ASCA) Rookie of the Year and champion. He was also the 1995 and 1996 Sprint Car Owners of Arizona (SCOA) champion.

Since settling here in Iowa, he has several big wins to his credit including a preliminary feature win in the 2002 Pella 1200 lb. Nationals, the 2003 Searsboro Telephone Spring Challenge at Oskaloosa and the Friday night feature at the 2006 Knoxville Nationals. He's won several Knoxville awards including 2007 "Most Improved" driver and 2008 "Sportsman of the Year".
