David returns for his tenth full season of racing at Knoxville in 2011. In 2010, equipment issues kept him out of the point race, but he came back late in the season to notch three podium finishes with the Sprint Invaders.
David is one of the top runners in the 360 class, and has improved since his first full sprint season in 2002. David started racing karts at age 12, and progressed on to stock cars and even some trans-am style road racing. Highlights included an IKF regional championship in 2000, and track championships in 1985 and 2000.
David’s steady improvement in the sprints culminated in a 5th place finish at the 2005 360 Nationals (one spot out of a transfer to the finale). That season, David was named 360 “Sportsmen of the Year”, and registered a pair of second place finishes in May. In 2006, he did one better, winning the B main and qualifying for the big show in August, finishing 17th. He recorded another pair of second place finishes that season.
He used consistency in 2007 to finish a career-high 5th in the season standings. David registered two seconds, four top fives, and eight top tens that season. In 2008, David was the highest local finisher (11th) in the final BRODIX Tournament of Champions run at Knoxville. He ventured out to run with the Sprint Invaders at the end of the season, and qualified in his first feature attempt on a ¼ mile at Quad City Raceway in Moline, Illinois.
Despite missing some shows, he registered a pair of runner-up finishes, just missing on his first win in 2009.
