2011 will mark Russ's fifth full season of sprint car racing, as with father Roger, he will again combine forces with owner Mike Waddell. Russ comes from a racing background, and served as a crew member on the World of Outlaw and USAC circuits, most notably with Terry McCarl and Bud Kaeding.
He will again mix his Knoxville racing with the Southeast Iowa based Sprint Invaders Association and ASCS regional events.
Russ won his first sprint car feature in 2009, copping the $3,000 Herb Barlow Memorial at the Jacksonville Speedway in Illinois with the Sprint Invaders. Despite limited experience at the “Sprint Car Capital of the World”, Russ has already registered four top five finishes and thirteen top tens in three seasons. With a podium finish in the 2010 season finale, his first win at Knoxville is imminent!
