Mike moved to the 410 class in 2020, finishing 18th in points.

Mike was born on April 19, 1964 in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up on a farm in St. Charles, Iowa. His dad worked in Des Moines as a truck driver and raised cattle and hogs and farmed the family farm in Madison County Iowa. As a young man, Mike truly loved to be outside working and doing chores, walking beans, playing baseball and football and putting up lots and lots of hay. With the money he earned from helping with the farming, he loved going to local "county fairs" and the Iowa State Fair and especially going to Knoxville. Watching the "daredevils on dirt" left him dreaming of one day climbing in one to try and "tame it." As the years came and went, kids, family and owning several trucking companies including most recently a towing company didn't allow for much time for his love of Knoxville. With his 50th birthday fast approaching, Mike realized that time was running out of time on his dream of driving a Knoxville sprinter. Knowing full well that he lacked experience in a "real" race car, Mike chose to race a micro sprint with the Iowa Micros Sprint Series. With help and advice from Brad Comegys, Mike purchased his first micro sprint from Sean and Kelby Watt from Adel. Mike earned "Rookie of the Year" that year and went on to race for three years with the Iowa Micro series. After gaining valuable experience in an open wheel car, and with many many conversations with family and fellow racers/ Mike has fulfilled his lifetime dream of owning a Knoxville car in March of this year. Mike will be competing in 305 class for all of the 2018 season. Mike and his wife Kelly own and operate Roy's Towing n West Des Moines, Iowa. Mike and Kelly have two children, Carter a student at the University of Iowa and Townsand a student at Iowa State University. Mike would like to thank his family and employees at Roy's for supporting his Knoxville DREAM.
