Bio:
Kelby turned in an outstanding rookie season in the 305 class in 2017 as a 16 year old. A top five standing in points was highlighted with his first sprint car feature win. In 2018, he started with mechanical ills, and fell out of the point race. He came back with a fury, however, winning three main events. He moved up to the 360 class in 2019, and was a contender for Rookie of Year up until Season Championship Night. He finished 11th in points. His improvement continued in 2020, as he climbed to sixth in points.
Kelby started in the restricted Box Stock Kart class at English Creek in 2005. Eventually, he moved to the unrestricted class and grew as a driver. In 2008, he placed second in track points. In 2009, he won the Outlaw Kart Nationals at English Creek and was runner-up in points.
At that point, he moved into micro-sprints to gain experience. In 2010, he was racing a full-time schedule in the kart and part-time in in the micro. He was the Box Stock Kart champion at English Creek, winning every points race feature he competed in, earning Driver of the Year honors. Since 2011, he has raced micros in Missouri and Iowa, as well as other large events around the Midwest.
