Knoxville Presents USAC Non-wing Knoxville Nationals on August 8!
Knoxville, Iowa - Knoxville Raceway and the United States Auto Club (USAC)
have teamed up again for the USAC Non-Wing Knoxville Nationals on August 8th. This prestigious race is one of 11 events that compose the Cox Design Iowa Speed Weeks.
USAC-sanctioned non-winged sprint car racing will play a big part in the
Iowa Speed Weeks this year, with the August 8 USAC Non-Wing Knoxville Nationals. "With these non-winged sprint car events being so close together (also the Ultimate Challenge at Oskaloosa on August 10), we should be able to draw a whole new crowd to Knoxville and Iowa for some great racing," stated Knoxville's Race Director Ralph Capitani. "For us at Knoxville Raceway, this event provides a perfect compliment between the 360 Knoxville Nationals August 5-7 and the 50th
Annual Knoxville Nationals August 11-14. In fact, it will be interesting to
see which winged sprint car drivers take their 'lids' off to compete against
the best-of-the-best non-winged sprint car drivers in this event on Sunday, August 8."

Format
Random draw for Time Trial order.
Hot laps in Time Trial order (8 cars per hot lap session).
Qualify in Time Trial order (1 car at a time, 2 laps). Best of two laps is official time.
Qualifying Race(s) depending on number of cars. 6 laps each. If one race is needed, top eight (8) transfer to the back of the heats. If two races are needed, top four (4) in each transfer to the back of the heats. The Chief Steward has the authority to establish the number of Qualifying races based on the number of eligible participants.
4 Heat Races: 8 laps each, 10 starters each, 6 inverted by time in each; Top four (4) in each transfer to the Non-Winged Knoxville Nationals Feature; Next six (6) in each transfer to the Semi-Feature(s).
Semi-Feature(s) will be 10 laps each, with cars starting straight-up according to the official qualifying times.
If one Semi-Feature race is needed, top six (6) transfer to the back of the Non-Winged Knoxville Nationals Feature. If two Semi-Feature races are needed, top three (3) in each transfer to the back of the Non-Winged Knoxville Nationals Feature.
Non-Winged Knoxville Nationals Feature: 26 laps, 26 Starters; 16 transfers from the heat races start up front, with the fastest six (6) cars inverted in positions 1 through 6, the remainder of the heat race transfers will start straight-up according to their official qualifying times in positions 7 through 16. The 6 transfers from the Semi-Feature(s) will start straight-up according to their finishes in the Semi-Feature(s) in positions
17 through 22. Positions 23 through 26 will be filled as follows with provisionals and Promoter’s Options: 23-USAC(1), 24-USAC(2), 25-Knoxville Promoter’s Option(1), 26-Knoxville Promoter’s Option(2). USAC provisionals will be based on highest-ranked non-qualified ‘Top 20’ car owners based on 2010 points. Knoxville Promoter’s Option provisionals will be given to the top two non-qualified drivers from 2010 USAC CRA Sprint Car Series points, respectively.
Technical Rules:
All competition will be held in accordance with USAC 2010 Official Competition Rules available at www.usacracing.com.
USAC Tire Rule will apply: Hoosier DT-3 or F-55/HARD Compounds on Right Rear at all times. 1-Way Radios are Mandatory.
SFI Approved Head & Neck Restraining Devices are Mandatory.
SFI Approved Roll Cage Nets are required on both sides of cars not utilizing a USAC approved full contain-ment seat.
Mufflers and rock screens are Mandatory.
