Rager Phillips is just 22 years of age entering the 2010 season. If it seems he has been around awhile, he has. Rager started racing at Knoxville shortly after his 16th birthday, having no prior racing experience, and qualified for his very first 360 feature event. His only experience had come in Dallas at Smiley Sitton’s Driving School that Spring. He also drove a 410 for the first time at the Knoxville Nationals that season, registering a qualifying time of 15.834 seconds.

Rager has proven his versatility, having success in both 360 and 410 racing, but his one win here came with a 305 under the hood in 2007. He has also had success with the Sprint Invaders, and registered a win with the 360 series in 2006 at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa. Rager is currently studying in agriculture at Iowa State University.

After a slow start to 2009, Rager and car owner Mike VanderEcken will go into 2010 with some momentum, having scored a third and fifth place runs in the final two shows at Knoxville.
