Cole Wood started racing Quarter Midgets at the young age of 7. He won the first race he competed in, and won in every class he contested. He raced in over 15 states across the U.S., winning many races as well as nailing down 15 Fast Time Track Records in the Quarter Midget. He went on to mini-sprints, winning a track championship in his rookie season. He won 15 features competing in ten states.
He move on to 305 sprints at age 15 in 2009, winning his first heat race. He also campaigned a midget throughout the season, grabbing a feature win, and rookie of the year honors with the Rocky Mountain Midget Association.
Cole moved up to 360 sprints starting in 2012. In 2014, he competed on a weekly basis at the Knoxville Raceway. A roller coaster season saw him pick up a 360 win in Rock Rapids, as well as qualifying for the World of Outlaws Dash at Knoxville in June.
