Pivotal Race in Lucas Oil Knoxville Championship Cup Series Saturday

This Saturday, competition heats up in the Lucas Oil Knoxville Championship Cup Series, with the Town Crier 410 Twin Features Night. The evening has enormous potential for drivers, with the opportunity to earn points in two events in one night.

Overall in the series, Danny Lasoski has a solid lead with 2,744 points, followed by Justin Henderson in 2nd with 2,495.

The next two driver rankings are just 6 points apart! Terry McCarl is in 3rd with 2,265, and Ian Madsen is in 4th with 2,259. Brian Brown rounds out the top five drivers with 1,985 points.

There is intense competition at the track going into the Twin Features event, with pressure to get solid results in the double feature. Dig in to the rivalries and learn more about each driver, below:

DANNY LASOSKI (2,744 points)
Lasoski, a Dover, MO native, has won four features this season, and a total of 105 features at Knoxville Raceway in his career. Lasoski and Terry McCarl have battled at the track for three decades, so Lasoski is eager to stay ahead of his old rival.

JUSTIN HENDERSON (2,495 points)
Henderson shows true endurance each week, as he typically competes in both the 360 and 410 class. This season, the Sioux Falls, SD native has won two 410 features, and three 360 features at the track.

TERRY MCCARL (2,265 points)
After suffering injuries in a serious crash at the beginning of the season, Terry McCarl has shown he is hitting on all cylinders once again on the track. July 4th was his first feature win of the season, for a total of 55 career wins at Knoxville Raceway. McCarl resides in Altoona, IA.

IAN MADSEN (2,259 points)
Ian Madsen was the 2014 Lucas Oil Knoxville Championship Cup Series winner, and he is eager to defend his title. Hailing from St. Mary’s, NSW, Australia, Madsen made his debut on U.S. tracks in 2005.

BRIAN BROWN (1,985 points)
2014 was a big year for Brian Brown at Knoxville Raceway – he won the Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals, and came in second in the FVP Knoxville Nationals. Brown suffered a recent arm injury during a race, but is expected to recover quickly.


Saturday’s race is also Fill the Stands for Hospice Night, with a portion of proceeds benefitting Hospice Care Services. $5 of every adult ticket purchased with the HCI coupon (available at Casey’s), will be donated to HCI Hospice Care Services in Newton.
