KNOXVILLE, Iowa (December 4, 2014) - There are three opportunities for drivers to qualify for the 19th Annual SPEED SPORT Knoxville World Challenge, two of which happen in the next week. These qualifiers, scheduled for Saturday, December 6 and Monday, December 8, are the first two races in the Porter Hire International Sprintcar Series in Auckland and Palmerston North, New Zealand. Expected to compete as American ambassadors at both events are 2005 Knoxville Nationals champion Kraig Kinser and 3-time King of the West Series Champion Jonathan Allard from California.

The first of the three World Challenge qualifying races is being held at Western Springs Speedway in Auckland on Saturday, December 6 at 7pm local time, (December 6, 12:00am central standard time in the US). This event will be shown via a live PPV through www.nzspeedway.com for $30 New Zealand dollars (approx. $23.40 US). Thanks to this opportunity, fans around the world can follow the racing action “down under”.

“My hat is off to Western Springs promoter Greg Mosen for landing two of the top tier sprint car drivers in the world for his World Sprintcars show this weekend,” said Knoxville Raceway General Manager Brian Stickel. “Participation in this international event will qualify both Kraig and Jonathan for the Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 SPEED SPORT World Challenge during the Knoxville Nationals. This 19th annual race will provide the winner with $10,000 and a possible golden ticket into the 55th FVP Knoxville Nationals championship feature on Saturday, Aug. 15. Obviously, both drivers know the significance of qualifying for the SPEED SPORT-sponsored international invitational.”

The second World Challenge qualifier will be held on Monday, December 8 at Robertson Holden International Speedway in Palmerston North.

The final international qualifier will take place January 23-25 when Premier Speedway in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia, hosts the 43rd Annual Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, which will pay $30,000 to the winner. In addition, the event will feature twin $10,000-to-win Australia/America Challenge Cup preliminary night mains, both presented by Oval Express. Many American racers are expected to converge on this popular seaside city for Australia’s version of the Knoxville Nationals. American’s already entered for the Classic are Brad Sweet, Danny Holtgraver, Jac Haudenschild, Kyle Hirst, Tim Kaeding, and Trey Starks.
