The career feature wins list in the Track History section has been updated with 5 USAC sanctioned sprint car events and 1 World Challenge. These events are now counted as official feature wins in our records.
USAC events: 9/6/1968 Gary Bettenhausen, 6/5/1971 Dick Tobias, 6/3/1972 Sam Sessions, 6/3/1973 Tom Bigelow, and 6/5/1982 Sheldon Kinser. Tom Bigelow now has 3 career wins at Knoxville while Bettenhausen, Tobias, Sessions, and Sheldon Kinser have 1 win each.
2004 World Challenge winner Daryn Pittman is now credited with his 3rd career Knoxville feature win as the race meets our minimum criteria for a win, that being 15 cars and 15 laps. The race was originally recorded as a 12 lap dash, but was in fact a 20 lap race with 16 cars.
We would like to thank Dick Jordan of USAC and Tom Schmeh of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum for assisting us with the research to ensure our records are accurate.
